3 Of The Best Ways To Learn More About Who You Are While You’re Still In Quarantine

Life as we know it has been interfered with in a significant way. COVID-19 has taken over our lives and for most of us has caused us with more losses than wins, not only financially but mentally. Being blocked from so many of the luxuries we formerly had has personally affected my mental health. Which has also left me questioning my purpose while also wanting to use this time to reconnect with myself.

Over the years, I have lacked a sense of whom I am. My life had become hectic, my home was chaotic and I never had a moment for myself. These things caused me to drift away from my vision and I stopped loving myself. All of this has shown me there is no better time than now to reconnect, and I’m sharing with you guys exactly how I did it!

#1: Deep Cleaning Your Life

At the start of this global pandemic, I went through a major break through. After someone attempting to hurt me, I knew it was time for me to cleanse my life of all negative things.

I started by cleansing my home from top to bottom. This meant deep cleaning the walls, baseboards, windows, etc. then smudging my home from any negative energy that lingered.

Once I got my home completely cleaned, I got rid of EVERYTHING connected to things that no longer served me or made me happy. Including any gifts or items given to me by people that produced negative energy into my life. (A VERY NECESSARY STEP!)

To move past what happened to me I allowed myself to cry, I talked about it aloud and began journaling again so that I could clearly see my feelings and begin to release them.

#2: Focus More On Yourself And Your Needs

I have always been someone who has committed more time to others than I have for myself. Although this was a hard habit to break, it had to be done. The moment you begin asking yourself what it is you desire and want, you instantly begin feeling connected to yourself.

Not only can you identify goals and desires, but you can fully focus on how to get those things. It doesn’t matter if it’s a material thing or even if you’re merely in need of healing, identify those things, then go obtain them.

Another extraordinary way to focus more on yourself is taking time for self-care. You hear people talking about self-care all the time but it is vital to connecting with yourself.

Self-care is different for everyone. It doesn’t have to be taking a bath or doing a facial. Self-care can be moments of meditation, taking some time to watch a show or movie you’ve been putting off or even just a solo dance party to break all the tension in your body loose. Whatever self-care means to you, make sure you take time for it!

#3: Say “NO’ And Stop Picking Up The Phone

As I previously stated, I am a person that you can always count onto come through for you. So much so, that I would put things that I needed/wanted to do on the back burner to help others out. This has to stop! I knew I had to teach myself how to say “NO.”

I have immediately put this into effect!

If I have something that I desire to do, that comes before anything else. I stopped allowing people to take advantage of my time, no matter who they were.

After realizing how important my mental health and my goals were to me, I knew it was time to be there for myself before anyone else.

Another thing I began implementing is tapping or swiping that red phone icon! When I am taking time for myself whether I’m journaling, sewing, or engaging in a personal conversation with me, I become unavailable to anyone else.

You don’t have to constantly make yourself available for every call! Take time for yourself whenever you require it and don’t apologize for doing so!

These three tactics have truly helped me to reconnect and learn more about myself. I’ve also come to be a reliable friend to me!

Take some time out of every week to speak to your inner self, see what it is you really desire out of life and what you can get rid of that no longer serves you.

Your future self will thank you for it!
